Shanly Group of companies was established in 1969 by chairman and owner, Michael Shanly. Shanly Foundation was born out of the success of these companies and the vision of the Chairman to invest in the local communities. After many years of philanthropic donations, this support was formalised in 1997 through the creation of the Michael Shanly Charitable Trust which, in 2012, became Shanly Foundation.
Shanly Foundation primarily supports good causes predominantly within Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, West Sussex and parts of Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.
Over the last 5 years Shanly Foundation has made over 2,000 awards. In 2021 there were 286 awards to good causes within the Shanly Group of companies’ areas of operation.
Since 1969 Shanly Group and Shanly Foundation have contributed in excess of £25 million to those in need of a helping hand, from youth clubs, schools and woodland projects to centres for adults with physical and learning disabilities.
Shanly Foundation is funded entirely from the discretionary distribution of profits made by the companies that make up Shanly Group
