VOLUNTEERING
We are always interested in hearing from new volunteers who want to help us promote safe and affordable cycling in our community. Most of our volunteers help the charity for a day or a few hours each week on a regular basis. Other volunteers like to help on an ad hoc arrangement when we have small projects or are running community events.
We are looking for more volunteers in the following areas
Trustee Volunteers
We need additional Trustees to join our friendly Board of Trustees. This will help us to continue managing the charity to keep up with the strong interest in cycling in the RBWM area and deliver our charitable objectives. More Detail
Workshop Volunteers
Our workshop volunteers support our professional mechanics to prepare and refurbish donated bikes and make them ready to be loved again by new owners.
Some basic knowledge of maintaining or fixing your own bike is needed, but there will be opportunities to learn from our mechanics and existing workshop volunteers.
Nicholson Centre Shop Volunteers
Our shop volunteers help our customers with choosing from our range of second-hand bikes. They also give advice and sell cycling accessories like helmets, locks and lights, and provide information about local cycling and our Maidenhead Cycle Hub activities.
Marketing and Communications
We often need volunteers to help us a few hours each month with ad hoc marketing campaigns or with on-going small projects. We don’t have an actual office so these volunteering tasks will usually be done from home
Dr Bike and other Community Events
We attend community events throughout the year with our pop up Maidenhead Cycle Hub stand to provide ‘Dr Bike’ health checks and general advice about cycling in RBWM.
We need extra mechanics, admin and marketing volunteers to help us plan and run these ad hoc events.
Organised “Led Rides” Volunteers
At weekends in the Spring, Summer and Autumn, our ‘Led Rides’ volunteers go in pairs to take small groups out for organised rides around the local area. This is to help new cyclists build confidence and to show them some great local places to cycle e.g. around Dorney Rowing Lake, Bray Lake, and the Jubilee River. Led ride volunteers need to be experienced cyclists.
