VOLUNTEERING
We are always interested in hearing from new volunteers who want to help us promote safe and affordable cycling in our community. Most of our volunteers help the charity for a day or a few hours each week on a regular basis. Other volunteers like to help on an ad hoc arrangement when we have small projects or are running community events.
March 2026. We are looking for more volunteers in the following areas :
WORKSHOP and ASSISTANT RIDE LEADERS – Please see details below
Bell Street Workshop Volunteers – e.g. 1 day per week . Mon – Fri.
Our workshop volunteers help our professional mechanics to clean, repair and refurbish the donated bikes and make them ready to be loved again by new owners.
Ideally you will already have plenty of experience with maintaining or fixing different types of bike(s) so you can help the mechanics to refurbish the donated bikes, and you will be given some coaching and help from our mechanics and existing workshop volunteers.
Or we also need workshop volunteers who are happy to occasionally just help wash and clean the bikes, label and sort out bikes & bike parts or move the bikes between the workshop units.

Nicholson Centre Shop Volunteers – 1 day or half day (very flexible) p.w. Tue – Sat
Our shop volunteers help our customers with choosing from our range of second-hand bikes. They also give advice and sell cycling accessories like helmets, locks and lights, and provide information about local cycling and tell people about our other Maidenhead Cycle Hub activities.
We are very flexible and happy to have shop volunteers who come in even for a couple of hours on an ad hoc basis too.

Social Media / Marketing and Communications / Funding Applications
We often need volunteers to help us for a few hours each month with various admin activities like looking after our Facebook page, making funding applications or helping us organise ad hoc events. We don’t have an actual office so these volunteering tasks will usually be done from home.

Person with large Car or Van needed. Ad hoc. To help us move and collect bikes or items locally to / from the Workshop etc,
We occasionally often need help to move several bikes or accessories between our shop and workshop, or to take / collect bikes to an off site event. We’d love to hear from anyone who can help with this. Likely to be a couple of hours each month at a time that suits you.

Organised Rides – more ASSISTANT RIDE LEADERS needed.
At weekends in the Spring, Summer and Autumn, our ‘Led Rides’ volunteers go in pairs to take small groups out for organised rides around the local area. This is to help new cyclists and families build confidence and to show them some great local places to cycle where it is mostly traffic free – e.g. around Dorney Rowing Lake, Bray Lake or Jubilee River, or family rides from Ockwells Park / Kidwells Park. We have a team of about 4 Ride Leaders at the moment and we would like to have more so we can offer more sessions
The rides are usually for about 1.5 – 2 hours on a Saturday morning or afternoon and are arranged around Ride Leader availability.
Led ride volunteers need to be experienced cyclists. We will provide Ride Leader /Assistant training.
