We provided work placements for two residents of Yeldall Manor, a residential rehabilitation centre offering medically managed community detoxification from opiates, alcohol and a range of other substances. Those we supported were in their ‘second stage’ of rehabilitation and worked alongside our mechanic for two days per week as part of supporting them to gain the ‘life skills, experience and confidence to move back into society without the need for drugs or alcohol’.
During the placement, we worked with the Yeldall team to update them on the progress being made by those on placement, as well as ensuring consistency in terms of expectations around professional standards.
In total 32 weeks, approx 2 days per week, a total of 128 days were completed with the two Yeldall residents.
“The work placement gentlemen from Yeldall turned out to be hard working and interested to be part of what MCH is trying to achieve. In their time with us they worked on all aspects of preparing donated bicycles of all descriptions various states of quality or disrepair. They learnt the main checks for both salvage and roadworthiness as well as how to service and prepare to the standard needed for sale in our shop”. Roger, Head Mechanic Maidenhead Cycle Hub
